Geranium Bourbon

Geranium oil is one of the staples of the perfumery industry, manufactured from the leaves of pelargonium (varieties of Pelargonium graveolens) plants, commonly known as geraniums.  This is a particularly fine oil from the island of La Réunion (once known as Ile de Bourbon).

According to Arctander it is “One of the most important and irreplaceable essential oils in perfumery” and he says that Geranium Bourbon is the most important of all. He describes the odour as: “very powerful: green, leafy-rosy, with a pronounced fruity-minty undertone and a rich, long lasting, sweet-rosy dryout”

This oil contains the following materials that require declarations on the label of products covered by the EU Cosmetics Directive:

• Citronellol58% *
• Geraniol5% *
• Limonene1%
• Linalool11%

* these two materials are also covered by IFRA restriction standards.  The oil does not contain any other restricted materials.
